Entry # 5: Your Immune System

That's right your immune system, I got one, you got one. Most people have one, but before I go on I will admit, that some people do not have immune systems because of health problems, so this isn't geared to those people.

But my point is simple, in this "take a pill for everything" day and age we live in, our immune systems, which have evolved over thousands of years for the purpose of taking care of aliments, are not allowed to the job. People nowadays don't even give their own body a chance to take care of itself, its right off to the doctor to get those antibiotics. So is this a bad thing? The answer is a resounding yes. What happens is sort of a double edged sword effect. With all the dependence and over use of antibiotics, viruses and bacteria get stronger every year. And because people take those and don't allow their own body to take care of itself, there immune systems will never fortify itself in order to better protect itself. So what happens, stronger antibiotics must be created. And people have to buy them. Its a vicious cycle Good for the drug companies, bad for everyone else.

But are antibiotics all bad, no, antibiotics are a good thing. But they should always be the last resort.
